Sounds on Sunday 37

More music for you this Sunday, better late than never. Have a listen and feel free to comment below. Many thanks to all contributors.

Stellarion – Winner Instinct: The third song from this French electronic band from Paris. More details on their Facebook page

Cosmos and Creature – Bad Drug: “COSMOS & CREATURE (comprised of boyfriend/girlfriend duo Brandyn Burnette and Molly Moore) capture the thrill of infatuation with new single “Bad Drug,” a track driven by heavy beats, powerful piano work and soulfully delivered lyrics. Says Moore, “It’s about the push-and-pull of a fiery relationship, where someone’s maybe not the best thing for you, but you still want them anyway.”

Delafaye – West Coast Vibes: “Delafaye (Moniker of Andrew Shockley) today shares another new song from his forthcoming EP ‘Highlands’. Recorded by himself in the bedroom of his small Louisville apartment, West Coast Vibes is beautiful sun-drenched piece of summer Americana exploring an albeit brief but deep past relationship, showcasing another authentic expression of his decorated past… West Coast Vibes is taken from new EP Highlands set for release on July 7th through London based record label Street Mission Records (distributed through [PIAS]). Pre-order on iTunes.

Grapell – No Longer Free: “Swedish duo Grapell is back at last with an absolutely killer new single, off their debut full-length that’s due out later this fall.” Spotify –

Nightdrive – Hyperion: “Night Drive’s debut album is out everywhere today! It’s fantastic and the vibe is infectious from start to finish. So happy to finally share it with you in full.” Spotify –

Bond – Use My Body: “Hello, We are a brand new project out of Los Angeles. We have 3 songs on Soundcloud. We’d love for you to give a listen.”

Lynn – I Used To Cry: “I noticed that you’ve covered similar artists in the past so I just wanted to pass along my new single “I Used To Cry” for a potential feature. The song was produced by Yoad Nevo (who is famous for his work with Sia, Moby and Sophie Ellis Bextor to name but a few). Influenced by pop music from the 90’s, with a more up to date production. The lyrics and video clip sends a strong message against bullying.”

Blond Ambition – Stupid Boy / Girl:

Wake Child – Hangup Blues: “Wake Child began with a couple of friends playing music. Danny Silberstein and Terrell Hines were helping Austin Max rehearse for a class performance he had the following day. All three attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music… The track was recorded live in the remains of an old Masonic Temple in Boston, MA. The temple’s mystical aura helped the band infuse “Hangup Blues” with a sense of isolation and magic, as the song’s outro explodes in a psychedelic mist of lovelorn confusion.”

Chris Martines – Lonely:The new song “Lonely” by Chris Martines refers to loneliness in relationships. The song has been released on May 26th, 2017 and is available in all online stores now.”

Squarewave – A Tighter Knot: “Squarewave Releases Seven-Years-in-the-Making ‘A Tighter Knot’… The musicians, Jeff Jagielo and Pat Connaughty, call their band Squarewave… Nearly 10 years ago, the then unknown Justin Vernon retreated to a Winter hunting cabin in the Wisconsin woods and emerged with Bon Iver’s For Emma. Forever Ago. Now Squarewave has stepped out of the isolation of the Wisconsin hinterlands to record and produce one of the best rock albums in many many years on Artisanal Records. A Tighter Knot is available in CD digipak and high quality uncompressed and lossless audio downloads at

  1. Of the songs on the playlist, only Stellarian (yup, the first track) really jumped out at me. Enjoyed that a lot.

Other links – again one clear winner. I really liked the two songs I’ve played so far by Squarewave. I didn’t think I was going to as the blurb on the website seemed a bit overblown but the music was great. Will be returning for more.

    • I think I’ve asked Carole if she might be able to do a Squarewave review when she’s back. I really liked that track too.
