The Wheel of your Tune

You’d be forgiven for thinking I’d had enough of spinning this week, but oh no.

The Wheel of Your Tune works like this; I metaphorically turn my spinning top to reveal a random letter and number. The letter relates to an artist or the name of an album in my collection and the number relates to the track by that artist or on that album. This week’s spin landed on Z4.

Scraping the bottom of the alphabet here…I only have 3 artists beginning with Z in my collection and I own either 1 or 2 tracks by them from compilations. So I searched under song title and hey presto, a belter.

What’s your Z4?

  1. Actually, Z is not a problem chez DsD.
ZZ Top, Zephyrs, Zola Jesus and more.

But my choice is The Zutons.

Three main album releases. Pick Track 4 from any of them.

From the debut, Confusion is lovely, and truth be told, I’d forgotten about it. The beauty of threads like this …
On the second album, Someone Watching Over Me is perfectly acceptable too.

2008’s You Can Do Anything was actually my Album Of The Year! The Prof will have evidence of that if his email account memory never gets emptied. Track 4 is You Could Make The 4 Walls Cry. Typically acerbic lyric/vocal from Dave McCabe.

I think I’ll go for Confusion this morning.

  2. I shall dive straight into the oeuvre of the late Frank Zappa and offer up the fourth track on his 1973 album Over-Nite Sensation. It is called Fifty-Fifty and it is here.

  3. I also picked Zappa, but the Z last name is just a bonus. I pick by album title just to make it more difficult for myself and this week pick Zoot Allures. Here’s Ms. Pinky for any of you spending Saturday night alone.

  4. ZZ, Zappa and Zevon. That’s my Z collection. Zepperella on YouTube may count. But here’s someone I came across during, and suggested for, Accordions week, Buckwheat Zydeco.
